GENERAL SUMMARY: The Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA)/STEP is responsible to the Physical Therapy WTL and/or Department Leader. He/she works under the direct supervision of the physical therapist in a self-directed work team committed to a common purpose and goal. The Physical Therapist Assistant/STEP works within the scope of Physical Therapy. He/she is responsible to practice within their scope of licensure in accordance with approved policies, procedures and protocols. The Physical Therapist Assistant/STEP contributes to positive outcomes and meets the cultural expectations of the organization by exhibiting professional behavior. He/she shares responsibility for all aspects of therapy and team functions. Performs other duties as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:

• Preferred: None
• Required: Working knowledge of basic computer skills. Demonstration of effective problem solving, decision-making, interpersonal, and team work skills. Use of effective verbal and written communication skills. Demonstration of time management and organizational skills. Successful completion of mandatory requirements, including department proficiencies/competencies.

• Required: Graduate of an accredited Physical Therapy Assistant program.

• Preferred: 1 year acute care experience.

• Required: Current license as a Physical Therapist Assistant in the state of Florida.
