The Blood and Marrow Transplant Supervisor is a working supervisor position responsible for both carrying a clinical patient caseload and supervising the Bone Marrow Transplant (BMT) coordinator team. Under the supervision of the Administrative Nurse III, and in collaboration with the attending physicians of the HEMATOLOGY & ADULT BMT TRANSPLANT Faculty Practice, and BMT Quality Manager, the Blood and Marrow Transplant Supervisor is responsible for utilizing scientific and clinical knowledge to supervise the coordination of patient care of the Adult Bone Marrow Transplant Program. The Blood and Marrow Transplant Supervisor will assist the Administrative Nurse III acting as a resource to the BMT Coordinators in monitoring assignments, managing patient care, monitoring compliance with Standard Operating Procedures of the UCSF ADULT BMT PROGRAM, FACT accreditation and other regulatory bodies. The Blood and Marrow Transplant Supervisor will assist the Administrative III and Quality Manager with developing, refining and conceiving alternative approaches to established care delivery systems. Care is provided through the systematic application of the nursing process: Assessment, Planning, Implementation, and Evaluation. All components of this process are individualized to meet the physiological, developmental and cultural needs of the Transplant patient population. The Blood and Marrow Transplant Supervisor assists in maintaining continuity of care with assessments and the care planning process. S/he bridges the gap between inpatient, outpatient, homecare, home and multiple providers.
Required Qualifications: • Current licensure as a Registered Nurse in the State of California
• Minimum three-five years of RN clinical/administrative experience.
• Three years experience in Hematology-oncology
• Two years experience in BMT
• One year experience in a supervisory/charge nurse role
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Quality of care/clinical competency: meets and exceeds the CN III level criteria
• Responsible for increasing knowledge base related to new procedures, policies and technologies and growing trends in transplant population
• Possesses competency as charge RN and being a resource to others.
Preferred Qualifications: • Bachelor’s Degree in nursing with minimum 5 years of experience in Hematology/Oncology and bone marrow transplant nursing • Two years minimum experience at a supervisor level • Knowledge of FACT regulatory requirements for BMT programs • Experience with QA process for quality improvement • Experience with allogeniec and MUD bone marrow transplant nursing • Clinical trials research experience
License/Certification:
• Current licensure as a Registered Nurse in the State of California • American Heart Association CPR for health care providers
