Penn Presbyterian Medical Center is currently seeking a full-time Clinical Resource Coordinator to support the Emergency Department. This person will perform concurrent reviews to identify patients in which the ordered treatment plan may not satisfy third party payor criteria (Interqual/Miliman&Robertson) for reimbursement for inpatient care. Investigate, propose and collaborate with ED team to consider alternative treatment settings and services, rather than admission, when appropriate, and coordinate with ED team to implement alternative plan of care for identified avoidable admissions. The ED Clinical Resource Coordinator will also perform concurrent reviews to identify appropriate admissions to the Observation Unit, attend Observation Unit rounds daily to insure appropriate placement of after hours admissions and be responsible for the written appeal of denials by the third party payors, as well as perform quality data collection and risk management referral.


A Pennsylvania licensed RN required, BSN preferred with a minimum of four years clinical experience. BSN and Case Management or Discharge Planning experience preferred. This position works 10 hour days - 4 days per week. Must be flexible with hours and able to rotate working weekends.
